Dato’ Haji Abdul Malik bin Abul Kassim, a Malaysian, is the Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company. He is also a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee, Nominating Committee and Remuneration Committee. He graduated in Public Administration from the School of Administration and Law of University Mara Institute of Technology in 1976. He was a member of Penang state legislative assembly and the Penang state executive councillor for Religious Affairs, and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs between March 2008 and May 2018. Dato’ Malik was the Chairman of the Penang International Halal Hub Development Sdn. Bhd., Halal Development Corporation (“HDC”) and Malaysia Pineapple Industry Board. He is presently the Deputy Chairman of HDC and holds business advisory positions in companies involved in housing development, construction, trading and international business.
Dato’ Malik has over 40 years of experience in various levels of business management and diverse industries that include events, chemical, housing development, construction materials, electrical engineering, food packing, electronics, and international real estates and hospitality, both locally and abroad. He was the Yang Di Pertua Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Pulau Pinang for term 2018/2019. Dato’ Malik also sat on the Board of PBA Holdings Bhd, Penang Development Corporation, Invest-in-Penang Berhad and Penang Global Tourism between March 2008 and May 2018.
